Join a Team

Serving on a team makes a difference for every single person that comes into the doors of

The Highlands. Our ministries would not be possible without volunteers like you!

Below you will find descriptions of the different areas you can serve in.

  • Buddy Program

    (Special Needs Ministry)

Have a heart for working with children with special needs? Join our buddy program and you will enjoy working one-on-one with a Highlands child that simply needs a little extra help in our Early Childhood or Elementary programs. No prior training is required; we will equip you with all you need to know to serve. Serving commitment is one Sunday a month and arrival 15 minutes prior to service time to allow for prepping and praying.

  • Cafe Team

Cafe Team members make The Highlands experience incredible for all.  They set up, replenish, and serve delicious coffee and tea. Whether brewing coffee or maintaining small talk, these volunteers have smiles on their faces and love making our home a little more inviting. Commitment would be serving at both services about once every 4-6 weeks.

  • Communion Team

This ministry team assists with the preparation, coordination and clean up of communion. We need volunteers who would like to serve/distribute the elements during the services. The Highlands Church celebrates communion the first Sunday of each month but volunteers would be on a rotating schedule.

  • Connections Team

Our Connections team believes that first impressions make a huge impact. If you’ve never met a stranger, this team is for you. Volunteers on our Connections Team are energetic, talkative, and friendly; this team is made up of individuals who love creating welcoming environments for every guest at The Highlands.

  • Early Childhood

    (Birth - 5 years old)

The Early Childhood teams exist to unveil God’s love to the children and families of The Highlands. From rocking infants to leading small groups, these volunteers create environments for kids to learn about Jesus and have fun at the same time. (Background check required).

  • Elementary

    Sunday Mornings

Elementary volunteers lead our Explorers (K-4th grade) in relevant, age-appropriate activities and lessons. From songs, to skits, to small groups...these volunteers do a little bit of everything. If you love interacting with kids, this team could be the one for you!  (Background check required)

  • Elementary

    Wednesday Nights

Explorers is our Wednesday night programming for K-5th grade! This program is Scripture-based, promotes Bible memorization, and provides exciting games that help kids develop lifelong faith in Christ. We are in need of people who are willing to invest in kids’ lives each Wednesday during the school year.

  • House Group

    Leader

House Groups are a great way to connect with others and build relationships. As a House Group Leader you will connect people in your group and see them change as you study, fellowship, and pray together. With orientation and guidance, you can expect to lead the group through various connection methods and studies.

  • Junior High

    (Grades 6-8)

Pathfinders is our Junior High ministry here at The Highlands! Small groups are divided by grade and gender (6th girls, 6th boys etc). We need leaders for these groups; leaders who are willing to commit to loving and knowing a group of students for 1 year - we meet every Wednesday night throughout the year. You don’t have to be cool, be a Bible expert, or anything else you can think of. You just have to be an adult who is willing to step into the lives of a group of students.

  • Meals Ministry

The Highlands Meals Ministry serves families & individuals within The Highlands Church & our surrounding community where a delivered meal would provide some relief. We serve to nourish bodies & souls by providing ready-to-eat meals, showing recipients we recognize their need, we care, and we are taking action. We have unlimited volunteer spots available! We ask volunteers to commit to making at least one meal every two months.

  • Men's Ministry

Men’s ministry exists to help men be disciplined for the purpose of godliness in all areas of life through teaching, discipleship, encouragement, accountability, and leadership training. Men’s Ministry is aimed at helping men grow in their knowledge of God’s Word so that they might pursue holiness and godliness and be godly leaders in their family, church, and community.

  • New Family

    Check-In Desk

The Check-In Team’s faces are some of the first that families will see as they enter The Highlands. Therefore, check-in team members need to have a positive and energetic personality as they greet and check-in families on our computer system. Members of this team also escort new parents and children to their appropriate rooms. If you get excited about interacting with people and families, then this is the team for you.

  • Prayer Team

The Highlands Prayer team is a group of people committed to learning and practicing prayer on behalf of each other and our church. We meet once a month on Sundays before church, we pray for the requests of our church and make ourselves available to pray with people. The Prayer Team is not just for people who are passionate about prayer or have figured prayer out. Regardless of how comfortable you are with prayer we encourage you to join us as we seek God together.

  • Senior High

    (Grades 9-12)

Small groups are an important part of our high school ministry. Volunteers will lead these small groups and connect relationally with our students. During small groups we discuss the lesson of the night, wrestle with questions students may have about the topic, as well as apply these truths to daily life. Volunteers on this team will be at programming every Wednesday.

  • Student Ministries

    Meal Team

Student ministries' meals team provides weekly snacks and full meals for special events during our Wednesday night programming. This is an easy way to make a big impact and serve our students! Some examples of what to bring are a plate of cookies, a bag of chips, pizza rolls, candy, and many more! Anything you think kids would enjoy our students will love!

  • Summer Associates

Serving as a summer associate provides an opportunity for students (entering 7th grade - college age) to experience what it’s like to serve in a church, develop leadership and discipleship skills, and grow in their relationship with Jesus. This is a paid position working in the Early Childhood or Elementary ministries. Minimum serving commitment is 8 Sundays during the summer.

  • Tech Team

The tech team helps everything run smoothly on a Sunday morning. When serving in this area you can expect to be asked to help run lights, sound, or live stream. You will receive training on how to do these things and can feel comfortable knowing that there will always be at least one more person in the tech booth that can help troubleshoot if any issues arise.

  • The Table

    (Foster & Adoption)

The Table is the Aspen Grove Network's foster care and adoption ministry. This group exists to serve, bless and educate families that have been built through fostering and adoption. Serving on this team includes providing childcare during parent education, helping set up/tear down events, or helping run a station during an event. We ask that you serve at two or more events per year.

  • Usher Team

If you're looking for a relatively brief serving role, consider joining the Ushers team. You will hand out programs at the auditorium doors before services begin and help visitors & attenders find seats. Serving commitment would be once per month.

  • Women's Ministry

Our purpose is to experience the love of God which enables us to connect in meaningful ways, serve others, and make Christ the center of our lives. We will invite, care about, impart life to and equip women so the lives we touch and the mission He gives us reach beyond our walls.
