Explore the big questions in life, faith and meaning

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of group conversations that explore the basics of the Christian faith in a relaxed, open environment. It’s a space to connect with others, where you’re free to say as much or as little as you like—no pressure at all. Everyone is welcome, no matter your background or beliefs. Come when you can, and don’t worry if you miss a session—there’s always a seat for you.

Why Every Christian Should Consider Alpha

In this episode of our podcast, “Bread Is Life”, Pastor Aaron sits down with Pastor Kevin Sharpe to talk about Alpha—a welcoming environment where people can explore life's biggest questions, discuss faith openly, and encounter the hope of Jesus. Kevin shares why Alpha has impacted countless churches, what participants can expect, and how it creates space for honest conversations about faith.

Whether you're curious about Alpha yourself or looking for a simple way to invite a friend to explore Christianity, this conversation will encourage and equip you.

This fall, The Highlands is excited to launch Alpha, led by Pastor Kevin Sharpe. If you've been looking for a place to ask questions, grow in your faith, or invite someone who is exploring Christianity, this is a great opportunity to take the next step.

In this episode you'll learn:
• What Alpha is and why it works
• How it creates safe spaces for spiritual conversations
• How Alpha helps people explore faith without pressure
• What to expect this fall at The Highlands

How does Alpha work?

Each Alpha gathering consists of 3 parts: Welcome, Watch & Discuss.

WELCOME: Join us for free food (when meeting in person) with new friends.

WATCH: Each Alpha evening features a 25 minute film. Designed to inspire more questions rather than provide answers, these short films explore the big issues around faith and life by addressing questions such as, 'Is there more to life than this?', 'What’s my purpose?' And 'How can we have faith?'

DISCUSS: After the film we’ll break into discussion groups where you can share your thoughts about faith and life and hear from others in your group. There’s no obligation to say anything, and there’s nothing you can’t say either! We believe in healthy conversation where everyone has a chance to express their feelings.
